This dish is not of Italian origins, but it is so popular in our country that it’s typically part of Christmas’s and New Year’s Eve’s dinners.
The original recipe, from Russia, requires many different ingredients, including meat and fish, vegetables and eggs.
In post-revolutionary Russia, cheaper ingredients were substituted to the originals. This is the version that is most common in Italy, with very few ingredients, just vegetables and mayonnaise.
Would you like to know how to make homemade mayonnaise? In the “Trofie and Vitello Tonnato” lesson of our cooking classes we teach it and you would be very surprised to see how simple and healthy is it!
